收錄晉唐五代的傳世書法、寫經、寫本及高昌墓磚共49件，詳述作者簡歷、書法特點及流傳情況等。晉至五代名家法書存世稀少，故宮為收藏最豐富者之一，本書全部收入，此為首次。專家撰文，對每幅作品的特色，流傳經過及歷代評價及真偽鑒別情況釋文詳加說明。不僅包括帖，還將前後題跋、收藏印鑒全部刊出，為首次完整出版；資料完備。其中19件法書名帖為書法史上的經典之作。 The Chinese calligraply was at its acme from the 4th to the 10th centuries as can be judged from the "Ping Fu" model by Lu ji, "Bo Yuan" model by Wang Xun, "Zhong Qiu" model by Wang Xianzhi, Bu Shang" model by Wuyang Xun, and Shenxian Qiju" model by Yang Ningshi. All are shown in the album. Some are complete with annotations on them and with their masterfully mounted scrolls in facsimile colours.
